FAQs

Who will be performing my ceremony?
From the time of first contact I will be your only point of contact throughout the planning to the delivery on the day of your ceremony. My personalised service is yours as I am an Independent Celebrant.

What kind of ceremonies do you offer?
It’s your ceremony so together we design it how you want it, in its length, its style and its content. The choice is yours.

Where can I get married?
Think of where you want your ceremony to take place, and then ask!  We are
happy to work with you in any location you desire.   If a place has a special meaning for you that is where we will hold your ceremony. This is your day, your special day and it will be yours, including where you hold it. From the smallest garden to the largest field, on the beach, in a tepee or pagoda the choice is yours.  Your ceremony can take place at whatever time of day or night you want to hold it. We only ever book one ceremony per day so you are not restricted by time.

Can we see the completed ceremony before our wedding day?
Your personalised ceremony will be just that – personal. We will design it together, we will go over it together and we will make whatever alterations you want until you are completely delighted with it. Your decision will be perfect as it is all about you.

Can we write our own wedding vows?
Of course you can, this is your special day and it will be made even more special as the vows you write will be from your hearts. We can work with you on this if you need us to and we do have many examples that you can choose from if you want to do that. You can, of course, take one of ours and make some changes so that it has special meanings for you.

Can I specify ceremony details such as music, readings, and vows?
This is your ceremony; you can include whatever you want that shows you as a couple. Again we
have many examples that you can choose from and we encourage you to tell us your own ideas so that we can put together your ceremony in your way.

What if one of us has been married before or we’ve been living together.  Does this matter?
Second marriages mean the start of a new life together and we are more than happy to perform your ceremony for you.

Can we involve our children?
Children love weddings! It’s a chance for them show off so yes, children can be involved and we enjoy finding ways for them to be involved - they are usually very helpful regardless of age.

Do you perform Same Sex Marriage Ceremonies?
Yes, being an Independent Celebrant means that there are no restrictions and we are happy to perform whatever ceremony you want, in the way you want it.

Do I have to say my vows?
This is your day, you can say as much or as little as you want! It is our hope that you will be very comfortable with your ceremony and want to at least read your vows or repeat them after us, but if your shyness won’t allow you to do this you can just say "I do", we’ll even accept a nod of the head if that’s what you want to do!

What do you wear as a Celebrant?
YOU are the focus of the day, so we usually come dressed in a suit and try to fit this in with your colour scheme so we don’t stand out, just blend with you.

What are your rules as to photography?
It is your choice on what photography you have and we are more than happy for flash photography and/or videos to be taken throughout the ceremony. Please bear in mind that an over-anxious photographer can distract from the actual ceremony for you and your guests so please make sure you speak to the photographer in advance about the number and position of photos you want taken during the ceremony so they don’t intrude too much on your day. We are very flexible.

When will you arrive?
Unless you request me earlier, we will arrive at least 45 minutes before the start of the ceremony. we will remain with you for a long as you want; we only have your day to attend to.

How do we get the marriage license?
Under current English law, you need to attend your local registry office with two witnesses (you don’t have to know them; you can grab them off the street if you want!). Ask the Registrar for the legal minimum requirement and save your vows, exchange of rings etc. until your ceremony with us.  You can do this at any time; some do this up to two weeks before the ceremony so that it does not intrude on the final arrangements.  At your ceremony with us, you will sign your Wedding Certificate which will then be presented to you but this is not a marriage license.

How soon do we need to book you?
The usual answer to this is ‘as soon as possible, if not before’! Most brides want a summer wedding so that they get a dry, sunny day so it is important to book as early as you can. Weekends are also popular times, so the answer to the question is, book as early as you can to get the day and time you really want. We try to be flexible but your date will not be held until a signed contract is received.

How do we book you?
In the first instance, EMAIL or CALL us to see if we are available for your chosen date and time. We can then chat in person, by phone, by email or via Skype video call whatever way you prefer to see if we feel we can work together on your special day.  If you decide to go ahead, we will send you a booking form and you simply pay a deposit by cheque, BACS payment or postal order to complete your booking. It’s as simple as that – booked! We will now begin to work on your special day.

We’ve booked, now what?

Once we’ve received your completed booking form and deposit you will receive a confirmation email from us. Upon receipt of this email you will have

  • Unlimited email & telephone support.
  • Access to our extensive resources of ceremony ideas
  • Examples of vows, readings, type of service, music, poems and many other options and of course, you can tell us your ideas
  • Your customized ceremony that’s exactly the way you want it

(The final draft will be laid out as you will receive it in your momento copy, you will have said a final “Yes, that’s the one that we want!")

On Your Wedding Day:
When we arrive at your wedding location we will check that everything we have discussed is ready for your arrival. We take great pride in our attention to detail; we don’t want you to be disappointed. When you are ready we will greet you and calm any fears or nerves you may have and we will proceed with the wedding ceremony you have created that is filled with love, affection, respect and romance, your perfect day!

After the ceremony we will present to you a beautiful momento package which will include a celebratory copy of your wedding ceremony, and a Wedding Certificate that is a special celebration of your day.
